Skin-Care Masks Should Not Be Used Every Day

  Silk mask is better for dry skins

  As we all know, different people have different skin types, and different skin types need different approaches to skin care. According to doctors, customers should find out what skin type they have before choosing facial masks and other cosmetics. There are four main skin types, including dry skin, oily skin, combination skin and sensitive skin. Those who with dry skin should choose moisturizing masks; those with oily skin should choose oil-control moisturizing masks; those with combination skin should choose the special masks which control the oil in T-zone while moisturizing cheeks; and those with sensitive skin should select masks of natural ingredients.

  There is large variety of masks in the market, and your friends may use different kinds of masks. The most common masks on the market are cream masks and sheet masks. Different masks have different characteristics. For example, cream masks feature easy use, gentle texture, more emulsifier, relatively less essence and poor penetration. Sheet masks can be divided into nonwoven masks and silk masks by material. The prevalent silk masks contain DNA repairing agent that helps repair sub-healthy or damaged skin. They are easy to use, perfect fit for skin, mild, nonirritating, and causing no itching or irritation. According to Dr. Chen Xiuhua, we often have problems of dry skin in autumn and winter, so silk masks are a convenient and effective choice for skin care in the two seasons.

  Skin care should be conducted according to mask type

  Skin care is far more than the use of facial mask. After the application of facial mask, we’d better to conduct skin care according to the type of mask just applied to get a better effect. The doctor said, if you use a peel-off or wash-off mask, you should wash face after application of the mask, and then apply lotion, eye cream, essence, emulsion or night cream in due succession. If you use a nonwoven sheet mask which is full of essence, you don’t have to wash your face after peeling off the mask but pat it till the left essence is absorbed. If you use a sleeping mask, namely wash-free mask, you don’t need to wash your face. Before going to sleep at night, you can massage the sleeping mask after cleaning the skin and applying with lotion. And in the next morning, your skin will be soft and moist after a night sleeping.

  Frequent mask use may harm your skin

  Some girls are very sensitive about their appearance. They are anxious for quick whitening, moisturizing, spot-removing and anti-acne and apply masks every day. The doctor said that using mask everyday may make your skin clean and moist on the surface but increasingly fragile in effect. Applying mask too frequently would damage the skin lipid membranes easily, make the stratum corneum get thinner, and eventually cause irritation, and other bad symptoms. So, how often should we apply masks? Dr. Chen Xiuhua suggested that for ordinary whitening and moisturizing masks, 2-3 times a week is ok; and for cosmeceutical masks, 1-2 times a week is the best.

  Apply mask before sleep is best for your skin

  What is the best time to apply mask? Chen Xiuhua suggested that we’d better apply mask before going to bed. This is because the metabolism of human body at that time is at a low ebb, while the growth and repair of cells are in the most exuberant state, which will increase the skin absorption capacity of nutrients. The mask can be applied usually about 9 o’clock at night after a shower. Of course, a better effect can be achieved if you wash your face and have a facial sauna for a while before applying the mask.

  According to doctor, there is a certain limit in the nutrition absorption by skin. Ordinary masks can be left on face for 15-20 minutes, and masks with high moisture content may be left on face for a little longer, but never for over 30 minutes in that the skin has been saturated and longer application of mask may cause moisture loss.
